New Hateful Eight Trailer: Is this Jennifer Jason Leigh’s John Travolta moment?

I love westerns, and consider Once Upon a Time in the West and The Outlaw Josey Wales among the best there ever was. I love westerns set during the winter, such as McCabe & Mrs. Miller and Jeremiah Johnson. And I love Quentin Tarantino movies, although I was disappointed by Django Unchained (it’s not bad; it just didn’t live up to my expectations for both Tarantino and the genre). So I’m more than a little excited about The Hateful Eight. It’s an intimate Reservoir Dogs-like guns-in-a-room tale told in gloriously wide 70mm Ultra-Panavision. You’ll be able to run your fingers through Kurt Russell‘s magnificent face fur. It’s also got crotchety ol’ Bruce Dern as a racist Confederate general, Walton Goggins doing his hillbilly sheriff Walton Goggins thing. I’m most curious about Jennifer Jason Leigh‘s Daisy Domergue (aka “The Prisoner”). I can’t recall the last movie of hers that I saw—Road to Perdition, maybe? But we definitely need more of her on the big screen. Hopefully, this will spark some sort of career resurgence. I notice on IMDb she’s got Amityville: The Awakening and Twin Peaks in the pipeline.
